Episode 4: The Whole Whole30 and Lies Marketers Tell

Why Are You Talking Episode 4

Welcome to episode four!

Jess and Sarah report back on their two very different experiences with the 30 day diet they just finished. Jess had a dream about cake, Sarah cried at work. We got to enjoy our first adult beverage in 30 days with Rob while we recorded. Cheers! (2:25)

This week Rob wanted to talk about the shady sales techniques people use on the internet to attract new clients. Is changing the subject line to make an email incorrectly look like a reply unethical? or just annoying? If someone shows up without an appointment to sell you something, can you hit them with your car? Jess invented a tag line for a company that already had one.  (14:48)

Fired from the internet! This horrifying thing happened. (29:11)

Episode 3: Bumbles and Juices and Netflix Fixes

Episode 3! We can’t believe it either.

This week Rob wants to talk about mobile dating apps and if anyone is still using them the way they are intended? (Spoiler alert: They are not.) We also debate the practice of hitting on people at the gym. Is it allowed? Totally skeezy? You tell us. (1:45)

Next we dig into juicing. Not the steroid kind, the kale kind. Is it good for you? Is it worth the money? Do I have to?  We talk about butts again, it continues to be hilarious.  (13:23)

Lastly, we discuss an article Jess read about Netflix binge watching and its effects on your health. We will physically fight you, Journal of the American Medical Association Psychiatry. (20:43)

Why Are You Talking Episode 2

Episode 2. We did it. You know they say that it takes two podcasts to be considered an expert.

First up, Peaches! We barely knew you. We discuss the one weekend rise and fall of the social app Peaches and whether or not it’s actually our fault. Also. We make a few butt jokes. (0:45)

Next we dig into startup culture in offices. Is it the new normal? or is it ruining the future workforce? Are we old? (13:35)

And lastly, What is the ‘gig economy”? Are millennials done staying in one field and climbing the ladder to the top? Is all this job hopping building our resumes or do we just have short attention spans? Everyone feels better about themselves. (22:17)

Episode 1: New Year’s Resolutions Are Dumb, Amiright?

Episode 1

Our maiden podcast voyage! This is the first full episode of the Why Are You Talking Podcast, and we couldn’t be more excited to get started.

In keeping with the season our first topic is New Year’s resolutions. Are they healthy? Realistic? Or are they setting you up for failure? (0:41)

Next we dig in the the idea of “The Hustle.” Is it the only lifestyle choice for successful entrepreneurs or a one-way ticket to a health crisis? Where is the line between hustling and being an asshole? (9:31)

Our last topic this week is about blogs. Once touted as the future of journalism, are these online-only news outlets being replaced by the less immediately gratifying, but more thorough podcast? Are people really sick of getting bad information, or is audio just easier to listen to in the car? (15:41)
